Keep September 11th and 12th Open

On the weekend of September 11th and 12th, St. Elizabeth Church will be holding it annual Ministry Faire to solicit the interest of parishioners in becoming more involved in the day-to-day activities of the Parish. In parallel with this, St. Elizabeth Council #8747 and St. Joseph Assembly #2246 will have a booth set up to encourage the men of the parish to consider the Knights of Columbus as an avenue with which to serve the Church. Make plans now to volunteer yourself to be at one of the Masses and provide your time in this endeavor.

Surge With Service
Now Available On This Site

We want to take this opportunity to announce that the Supreme Council publication "Surge with Service" is now accessible on this site. Please see the link on the Site Directory to your left.

And Speaking of Surging With Service

Coming up very soon, we will be conducting our major fund raiser to benefit the Special Education Class of Milpitas High School. Many of us still refer to this project by its old moniker, the MRP. No longer. What we used to call MRP is now "People With Intellectual Disabilities". New aprons, hats, and cans have been designed and released for acquisition by the Councils. Please be ready to step up and volunteer your time. Exact dates of this event are forthcoming.

Changes Coming To The Website

In 2004, I had this idea that St. Elizabeth Council would benefit by joining the information age by having its own website. After looking up and reading on how to put one of these things together, securing a domain name, getting a hosting site, we launced http://www.kofc8747.org. To say that I had some learning curves I had to navigate would be an understatement. Software had to be purchased and classes had to be attended. Time had to be allocated to gather the materials needed to publish online and a constant attention to updating of the site's content was a job in and of itself.

Very soon, I will be giving up the position of the founding webmaster and turning it over to one of our newly hatched Brothers. This Brother Knight, whom we will introduce at the appropiate time is currently taking care of the San Jose Chapter's website as well as the St. Joseph Assembly website. I want to let all of you know that it was a pleasure having brought this to you. I am looking forward to this site's continued improvements in being a relevant messenger and provider of timely information to the membership.

Thought For The Week

I have learned through bitter experience the one supreme lesson to conserve my anger, and as heat conserved is transmitted into energy, even so our anger controlled can be transmitted into a power that can move the world.-Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)
