2005 Freethrow Basketball Competition

The annual Freethrow Basketball Competion for Boys and Girls ages 10 - 14 is an event we look forward to conducting. The event is held at the Milpitas Sports Center and is timed to occur around the middle of January. Because of extenuating circumstances, we had to postphone this year's competition to February 5th. What follows is a photo album of how things went.

Ernesto Bautista, pictured at left, readied the registration forms with clipboards that all of the contestants had to fillout and obtain the proper signatures prior to being allowed to compete.

This year, we had a total of fourteen (14) participants, not the best of turnouts we've had but nonetheless, these kids participated.

Prior to actually getting the contest underway, the participants were given plenty of time to get the kinks out, sharpen their eye, coordinate their throwing arm, and, if they didn't do the above, just have fun.

Our contestants ranged in ages from 10 years old to 14 years old. The largest group of participants was 11 year old boys. In that contest, we had to hold a double elimination shootoff because our contestants were that good.

When the competition got underway, the participants settled down to serious business. In the 11 year old boys competition, we had to go to an unprecidented double elimination round.

Regardless of the location or the event, the job isn't done until the paperwork is completed. After the competition is held, there is a mad dash to
to tally up the scores, make sure the names are on the certificates, organize the awards sequence, do some housekeeping. Sounds like another day at the office.

St. Elizabeth Council wants to take this opportunity to thank those boys and girls and their parents who came out and participated in our Annual Freethrow Competition.

We look forward to our 10 - 13 year old participants returning for next year's competition.
