Dear Worthy Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries:
1. From the 8747 homepage, select the link to the spreadsheet . At the File download prompt, select SAVE. We suggest you save to your desktop, but you can save this file anywhere that you wish. However, you should remember where you saved this file, as you will need it later in step 7. Save the file in this suggested format: 3rd_Reg<Your Council Number>.xls, e.g. 3rd_Reg8747.xls
2. If you receive a message about links, choose UPDATE. If you get another message, choose BREAK LINKS, if that is available. If you encounter any problems, contact Ed Blake at webmstr@kofc8747.org or (408) 263-0247 for assistance.
3. If the file opens to the Read Me tab, note the information, then go to Chapter Summary (Auto) tab. Click on your Council name.
4. This will open your Council tab (note your Council number on the blue tab and in cell A2). Your Council's header info should be filled in the top 6 lines of the worksheet.
NOTE: If any of this information is incorrect, contact Ed Blake at webmstr@kofc8747.org or (408) 263-0247, to correct it in the master file.
5. Enter names and use the pull-down menus in columns C, D, and E to enter the information on Group, Dinner, and Ladies Program. Enter only 1 name per line. Do not put Mr. & Mrs. on the same line. Put the husband and the wife on separate lines.
6. Note the summary amount on line 1. This is the amount your Council will owe at registration time.
We know that most Councils pay the $5 registration fee per candidate, and pay for a dinner ticket for the candidate. The candidate is responsible to pay for his wife's or guest's dinner. We encourage all Councils to collect the dinner amount for a candidate's wife or guest from the candidate and be prepared to submit a single Council check for the total amount of registration and dinner. This will simplify registration at the host Council considerably. If you need clarification on this, please contact Ed Blake at webmstr@kofc8747.org or call him at 408-263-0247..
7. After you have finished with the registration form, save it! Then, send it as an attachment to in e-mail to Ralph Manfredo at rpmanfredo@sbcglobal.net .
If, when you downloaded the Excel file, you did not choose SAVE, but chose OPEN, you will get a warning that 3rd_Red.xls is READ ONLY. It will also prompt you to save with a different name. We suggest you add your Council number in the file name, in front of the dot. Example: 3rd_Reg8747.xls
You can use the File/Send To/Mail Recipient (as Attachment).command. This will launch your e-mail application and attach the file to an new e-mail. Fill in the address, add any text you wish and send it.
Alternately, you can start a new e-mail in your e-mail application and attach the file. This is where you will need to remember where you put the file in Step 1.
Once you send the e-mail, you are done with registration. You can keep the form on file or delete it. We suggest each Council keep a copy of the workbook until after the 3rd Degree. Also, we are working to set up a website that will allow updates to files to the website rather than having to download it to your computer. However, that is approximately 6 months away.
